Before you start

A few things every swimmer should know first

Swimming isn't a skill most kids (or adults) just wake up knowing — it takes regular, low-pressure practice. Here's what to keep in mind before you get in the water together.

This is prep, not supervision

Everything on this site is meant to help your new swimmer feel more comfortable and capable in water — it does not replace close supervision. Stay within arm's reach any time they're in or near water, no exceptions.

Swimming is for every age

There's no cutoff for learning to swim. Toddlers, older kids, teens, and adults all pick up these same basic skills the same way — in small, repeatable steps.

Practice year-round

Water comfort fades fast without practice. A few minutes in the bath, a pool, or even a warm shower during the off-season keeps skills from resetting every summer.

Meet the maker

Hi, I'm Ramneet

At a young age I was put into competitive swimming, and I spent most of my time navigating the stresses and joys of the sport. After I left the competitive side, I realized what a privilege it was to learn such a life skill, and I wanted to carry that knowledge to others.

Over the past year, conversations with young kids and adults showed me that a great majority of people have yet to learn it, and that is what inspired Rising Rapids Swim Co.. I wanted to keep making connections and teaching swimming without putting a limit on accessibility. This website gives you steps along with visuals to better understand each part of swimming, and to grow confidence and love for the water that you can enjoy year round.
